Why did you decide to join OnTalent?
I decided to join the OnTalent team after my initial conversation with Courtney. I felt like she got me! And we were on the same page; it was a breath of fresh air!
Before I commenced recruitment in 2004, my experience with recruitment agencies when looking for work was not positive. When asked one day what I would really like to do I knew the answer right away! It was recruitment, WHY? Because I didn’t want to treat people like numbers, I wanted to add value to someone’s life.
I began in the mining and heavy industrial sector, connecting people and maintaining a focus on the human side. This has positively impacted the way I do business.
As a ‘people’ person, I felt a little out of place in an environment where people were more task focused. I put aside these challenges and dedicated myself to improving the quality of personnel I recruited, ensuring the candidate experience was the best it could be. For me, the best achievement from this experience was seeing the many employees I recruited over time be successfully promoted.
At OnTalent, I am truly excited about working with true professionals where people are treated with the upmost respect. Connecting People and Purpose – It’s not just a job it’s what we do!
What did you do prior to joining OnTalent?
I have worked as a recruitment professional now for over fifteen years with the majority being heavily focused on bulk end to end recruitment, including process mapping and streamlining the mobilisation and demobilisation of all personnel. These were often professional positions within heavy resources, maintenance, infrastructure, and engineering.
What makes you excited at work?
Finding the right candidate for the right role. To me, that is positively making an impact not only for our clients but for our candidates.
What do you for fun when not a work?
I am married with a young son (and husband) who is constantly on the move with motor cross and BMX!
In down time I love to do some DIY around the home as well as catch up with friends and family.
