Striving to deliver a sustainable and commercially viable future for the organisation, CS Energy are seeking an experience General Counsel to lead the legal and company secretariat functions and to provide expert advice to the Board and Executive to effectively navigate complex legal matters.

OnTalent is privileged to partner with CS Energy to recruit their General Counsel.

Reporting to the Executive General Manager Transformation, the General Counsel works collaboratively with the Executive Leadership Team and is a key advisor to the Chief Executive Officer and Board.

Leading a team of 4 Senior Legal Counsels and the Company Secretary, the General Counsel develops and oversees legal strategy and all operational legal issues across commercial (including JVs), litigation, workplace health and safety, environment, employment and statutory interpretation.

As CS Energy continues to evolve in new energy markets and plays a key role in the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan, the General Counsel and their team will play a pivotal role in ensuring the organisation is well-advised and positioned to deliver on their key strategic objectives of Mastering the Fundamentals, Enabling Our Future and Navigate the Transformation.

This unique role has a broad and diverse remit – to be successful, you will have extensive General Counsel experience in a complex, asset-intensive setting and proven success leading, managing or participating in large-scale commercial negotiation and litigation. You will have led high-performing legal teams and interacted extensively at Board and Executive levels with a reputation for exceptional communication and collaboration skills with internal and external stakeholders alike.

You will hold a current practicing certificate. Governance qualifications will be highly regarded. Experience in a government setting is not a prerequisite but knowledge of the commercial and legal requirements of a Government Owned Corporation will be well regarded.
