Executive Director, Environment and Conservation Policy and Legislation

Executive Director Environment and Conservation Policy and Legislation will lead projects and a change agenda to improve performance and deliver better conservation strategy outcomes for the environment.
Responsibilities of the branch include developing policy regarding the environment protection framework for resources and industry including mine rehabilitation, the government biodiversity strategy, threatened species listing and environmental offsets. A key responsibility will be the delivery of the SEQ Koala Conservation Strategy and leading the development of Queensland’s State of the Environment report.
Reporting directly to the Deputy Director General you will lead a team of up to forty working on high level of policy and strategic engagement activities.
The ideal candidates will have experience in delivering policy outcomes at a high level for State government and overseeing change agendas. Also required is the ability to engage across agencies, with the Minister and Director General’s office and with external parties such as peak bodies and community groups.
You will demonstrate outstanding judgement, a high level integrity, ethics and probity but also be agile and adaptable with strong outcomes focus, achieved through well-honed communication and negotiation skills.
This is an exciting role which covers a range of complex and diverse issues that impact the natural environment across Queensland.
