The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) commenced operations in 2013 as a national entity responsible for regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass. Located in Brisbane, the NHVR minimises the compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reduces duplication and inconsistencies across state and territory borders, and ultimately for the heavy vehicle business with government in Australia. Over the next three years, NHVR will deliver on a corporate plan that will continue to modernise regulatory approaches, create strong partnerships to drive consistency in the approach of enforcement agencies, increase the use of data, technology, and innovation, educate the community, and deliver a high performing, engaged workplace culture.
  
Reporting to a dynamic and inspiring Chief Executive Officer and engaging broadly with the Board, the Chief Corporate Officer (CCO) leads a large, multidisciplinary team across:
  • Governance and Risk and NHVR Board Secretariat services
  • Procurement & Property including Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiatives
  • Finance
  • People, Safety & Culture
  • Legal Services.
Strategically and operationally, the CCO ensures that the wider organisation is enabled to deliver on current and future needs through a customer centric, best practice delivery model providing guidance and best practice, innovative service delivery.  The CCO will work alongside the CEO, ensuring that the business runs smoothly and is able to scale and respond to business needs – enabling innovation, growth, and strategic performance through excellent service delivery. 
  
To be successful in this role, you will:
  • Demonstrate strong people leadership experience across multiple functions relevant to this role
  • Have executive experience in a regulated environment and understand the political landscape
  • Possess a deep understanding of state and federal government operating environments
  • Demonstrate an ability to challenge with respect, drive enabling, customer enabling team cultures that ‘get ahead’ of the needs of the wider business
  • Have high level conceptual, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Previously have led change related to innovative service delivery, enablement, and growth
  • Be experienced in working closely with a Board and Finance and Audit committee as a leader of the Board secretariat
  • Have a track record of building strong working relationships
  • Strong commercial acumen and senior level financial management skills
  • Have led enterprise-wide business improvements and innovative projects and programs of work
  • Hold tertiary qualifications in accounting, commercial, business administration or finance with post graduate qualifications well regarded
