Job Description

Our valued client is seeking to recruit an experienced Contracts Officer for the Local Council for a contract position. This role is available immediately and will be working in the Road Construction and Maintenance team you will develop, prepare and implement high quality processes with the outcome of providing value for money and compliance.

Commencing immediately with an initial contract end date in December 2020 (extension possible) earning $39.24 - $43.28 per hour + super pending experience level.

The purpose of this role is to develop, prepare and implement high quality processes and systems for Road Construction & Maintenance’s service delivery contracts providing value for money and compliance. This role will also provide technical advice to key stakeholders to assist in improving the delivery of Council’s services contracts and maintenance operations, whilst working within Council’s procurement policies and procedures, and legislative obligations.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical advice to key stakeholders to assist in improving the delivery of Council's services contracts and maintenance operations, whilst working within Council's procurement policies and procedures, and legislative obligations
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of tenders
  • Develop and maintain systems and processes relating to contract administration responsibilities
  • Establish priorities, outcomes and monitor outcomes to achieve branch goals
  • Prepare, develop and implement inspection and auditing documentation
  • Make recommendations for the authorisation of variations and monthly payments, issue site instructions and collect appropriate information for quantifying potential variations
  • Scoping maintenance projects and providing solutions
  • Investigating and assessing solutions to various road and drainage maintenance problems
  • Preparing estimates and programs for maintenance works, in liaison with Supervisors and Principal Engineer
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and/ or experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge and practical experience in contract management
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills
  • Well-developed organisational, time management and problem solving skills
  • High level written communication skills
  • Experience using MS office software and computer systems that support construction and maintenance activities and projects
  • Current Open Driver’s licence
  • White Card
  • Level 3 Traffic Management certification
  • Willing to undertake a Criminal History Check
  • Willing to undergo a Pre-Employment Medical
