Job Description

This role will support the development of new products as well as ensure new products are ready for volume manufacturing.

The Equipment Process Engineer is a critical role in the Technology Development department and is focused on developing, optimising, and sustaining epitaxial growth processes on Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) tools for compound semiconductor R&D and manufacturing. The Equipment Process Engineer will be the process owner for the assigned MBE system. This is a highly collaborative role where you will work on projects focused on the improvement and optimisation of MBE processes and MBE hardware, as well as research, development, and industrialization of new compound semiconductor products.

You will take responsibility to oversee and manage new products through their lifecycles, including development, qualification, transfer into production, production, and end of life.

From an operational and delivery perspective, the Equipment Process Engineer will:
  • Oversee and manage new products through their lifecycles, including development, qualification, transfer into production, production, and end of life.
  • Daily operation of MBE systems including loading/unloading of wafers, batchmode & recipe setup, process monitoring, and maintaining all relevant documentation.
  • Planning and scheduling MBE processes to maximize the throughput of MBE systems.
  • Monitoring & correcting for process drifts and excursions, qualification of MBE systems, and performing process transfer to other MBE systems.
  • Collaborating with MBE equipment team to solve and troubleshoot equipment issues and assisting the MBE equipment team with various maintenance activities to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Developing new epitaxial recipes (based on the C/C++ language) for the implementation of new epitaxial processes or device structures in line with compound semiconductor R&D and manufacturing strategy and roadmaps.
  • Creating standard operating procedures and other technical documents related to the operation and performance of MBE systems.
  • Create and develop new epitaxial recipes for the implementation of new epitaxial processes or device structures in line with compound semiconductor R&D and manufacturing strategy and roadmaps.
To be successful in this role you will have experience as an Equipment Process Engineer role within a similar company. You will have experience across the following:
  • Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering or Physics or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on experience operating semiconductor, scientific, or similar equipment to independently develop new (or substantially improve existing) process recipes.
  • Ability to analyse process data, determine the root cause of process issues and recommend suitable corrective actions.
  • Competency with programming languages - C, MATLAB, Python, or similar, to create scripts for data analysis or automation.
  • Experience with high-vacuum deposition and film growth equipment operation and maintenance is desirable.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor processing technology.
  • Hands-on, mechanically inclined, self-motivated, and proactive individual contributor that thrives on solving technically challenging problems, with excellent attention to detail.
