OnTalent is partnering with Simon George & Sons, a third-generation, family-owned produce wholesaler built on a legacy stretching back to 1927. For nearly a century, the George family has been supplying premium fruit and vegetables to Australia's leading hospitality venues, retailers, and institutions. An opportunity now exists for an experienced and people-focused General Manager to lead the Melbourne operation and play a genuine role in shaping the next phase of growth for the business.

About the Role
Based at the Epping site and reporting to the Chief Executive Officers, this role is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and growth of the Melbourne site, covering operational delivery, financial performance, safety, customer outcomes and team capability.

This opportunity will suit a collaborative and commercially minded leader who values developing people just as highly as delivering results. You'll strengthen leadership across the site, give teams the tools and accountability to do their best work, and help connect day-to-day operations to the broader direction of the business.

You'll lead teams across warehouse, transport, customer service, and sales, and work closely with stakeholders across the wider business to drive service consistency, operational excellence, and sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop high-performing teams across, operations, warehouse, transport, customer service and sales
  • Build leadership capability and develop high-performing teams across the site
  • Drive a culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement
  • Drive operational performance across warehousing, distribution, inventory, transport, labour efficiency and stock control
  • Partner with sales leadership to support customer retention and market growth
  • Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance across HACCP, WHS, and food safety standards
  • Contribute to strategic planning, succession and business improvement initiatives
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders

About You
You are grounded, commercially minded leader who knows how to get the best of people in a fast-paced operational environment.

You will bring:
  • Experience in a senior operational leadership role such as General Manager, Operations Manager, or Site Manager
  • A background in fresh food, FMCG, warehousing, logistics, transport, distribution, cold storage, or supply chain
  • Strong commercial and operational acumen
  • Proven experience leading large, diverse teams
  • Solid knowledge of HACCP, WHS, and operational compliance
  • A genuine passion for mentoring, leadership development, and team engagement
