The Opportunity
This is a high-impact, team leadership role where you’ll help shape the people, culture and capability agenda of a growing organisation while integrating the communication and marketing function to actively position Alder Group’s evolving story internally and externally. You’ll work closely with the executive team to build strong foundations while leading transformation that enables performance, safety and long-term sustainability.
What you’ll deliver
Shape the people strategy and future workforce
- Lead and embed an enterprise-wide people strategy that lifts performance, engagement and capability.
- Partner with senior leaders to develop and maintain a rolling 1/3/9-year workforce plan aligned to business strategy.
- Design and deliver leadership and capability programs that build future-ready teams and strong people leadership.
- Lead the end-to-end implementation of a new HRIS with integrated LMS, including business case development, procurement and change management.
- Deliver critical IR/ER priorities such as leading the negotiation and ongoing development of Alder Group’s Enterprise Agreement, ensuring compliant, practical and fit-for-purpose outcomes.
- Ensure policies and procedures are current, compliant, embedded and aligned to Alder’s Code of Conduct and expected behaviours.
- Embed psychosocial risk assessment and sexual harassment prevention frameworks, supported by clear controls and annual training.
- Lead sensitive and complex investigations with fairness, discretion and best-practice governance.
- Introduce a structured annual remuneration review process aligned to market data and performance outcomes.
- Simplify and strengthen performance and development processes to drive clarity, accountability and reward alignment.
- Implement structured succession planning to protect critical capability and support future leadership continuity.
- Oversee external publications and reporting, including data releases where required.
- Lead internal and external communications and engagement across brand, media, outreach, social channels and employee communications.
You are a confident, contemporary People leader who can operate at both strategic and operational levels. You build trust quickly, bring sound judgement to complex matters and know how to turn strategy into action.
You’ll likely bring:
- Around 10+ years’ progressive HR experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership, with exposure to Communications/Marketing in complex, fast-paced environments.
- A strong track record in developing and executing people strategies that enable organisational performance and change.
- Hands-on experience implementing a new HRIS (with LMS), including leading adoption and change.
- Highly developed stakeholder management, influencing skills and judgement across sensitive IR/ER and people matters.
- Proven leadership experience building engaged, high-performing teams across diverse workforces and locations.
- Experience in the construction industry is welcomed, but not essential.
