The Inspector of Mines, Mineral Mines and Quarries carries out the functions of an inspector under the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999 and Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999 to help ensure that the mineral mining and quarrying industry operates at an acceptable level of risk.
RSHQ are seeking a passionate professional to join their team committed to having a lasting, positive impact on the safety and health of mine and quarry workers in the Mt Isa Region. This high-profile region includes nine of Queensland’s eleven underground Mines in its remit and therefore manages 40-45% of all high potential incidents. The mining and quarry industry in this region is changing but with new players and the critical mineral industry coming onboard, there will be many opportunities to advise on risk outcomes.
Ideally seeking a mine engineer with 5–10 years experience in mining (Underground Metal/ Hard Rock) you will be motivated by the role advising and managing risk for the mines and quarries. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills including an ability to write professional and factual investigation reports which stand up to Court scrutiny. You will connect at all levels of the industry from CEO to mine manager to engineer and worker on the ground.

RSHQ understands the importance of work-life balance. While travel across Queensland is part of the role, you'll be back home on weekends. This critical role will be based in Mt Isa, as it will play an immediate role in any investigations and audits into accidents and incidents. In addition to a rental allowance to help with accommodation, a relocation package is also on offer.
