Magnetica is a medical device engineering and technology company specialising in the development and supply of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) systems, sub-systems and technologies. Headquartered in Brisbane, Australia, we have offices in Abingdon, near Oxford, UK (Scientific Magnetics Ltd) and Houston, USA (Tecmag, Inc.).
Following the recent merger of these companies, we are now focused upon commercialising our dedicated compact MRI systems to bring high-quality imaging closer to the patient point-of-care. With a strong pedigree in MRI and NMR sub-system development and supply, trading as Magnetica, we have created a company with compelling IP and a broad technical team, to deliver diagnostic imaging systems and sub-systems to clinicians.
With proven capabilities in R&D, product commercialisation, manufacturing and supply, the company is at a stage of growth and opportunity to provide a unique integrated product offering in the MedTech sector. We are looking for a motivated and detail orientated person to join our team on a permanent basis, based in the Brisbane office.
As part of the Engineering team the LMS Specialist will be responsible (from ground-up level) for the concept, design and preparation of all training and support material for customer and partner use.
From an operational and delivery perspective, the LMS Specialist will:

  • Working with subject matter experts and stakeholders to design and develop a range of online training and capability development solutions.
  • Define at a greenfield level a defined plan and roadmap for all LMS material – you will take full responsibility for this required project and delivery within key timelines.
  • Develop, or contribute to project plans and scoping proposals for the design, development and implementation of online learning products.
  • Produce online learning content, Reference Guides, Pocket Guides and necessary support materials.
  • Deliver training content through in-person events/Webinars.
  • Work with customers to identify training needs; develop and deliver customer training plans (schedules, content, feedback mechanisms, etc).
  • Deliver product training via different channels (Live, Online, remote) and mediums.
  • Support the implementation phase remotely or at customer locations as needed.
  • Be a product knowledge expert, and remain up to date with product knowledge, business flow, sales process and market dynamics.
  • Analysing usage metrics, data from support tickets, and customer feedback to improve training delivery and support company training goals.
  • Assist in developing training program strategy, including defining and tracking objectives and key results.
  • Collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders to scope, design and develop creative, innovative and highly-interactive learning and communication products which support identified organisational objectives.
  • Translate complicated concepts and messages into plain English.
  • Prepare documentation to enable the development of online learning products.
  • Provide advice on and apply instructional design, learning theory and online usability principles, ensuring that accessibility requirements are considered.
  • Ensure quality assurance processes are applied in the development of online products.
  • The ability to interpret and apply legislation and/or policy or the ability to rapidly acquire this capability.

To be successful in this role you will have experience as an LMS Specialist role within a similar company. You will have the following:


  • Cert/Diploma Technical Communications, or related qualification in Instructional Design, Learning Management Systems Content.
  • L&D experience with proven proficiency in developing e-learning materials with authoring software and confidence running live online learning using appropriate tools.  
  • A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with trainers, instructional designers and other industry experts.
  • A commitment to the iterative design process for the training material that is developed.
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Experience with video and audio editing tools.
  • Experience with Adobe CC Suite, MS tools, as well as other LMS specific tools.
  • Exposure to UX/UI design and layout for training modules/programs.
  • A working knowledge of digital and data technology/ systems.
  • Sound competence of integrating good-practice instructional design principles (that is, user-centric focus, accessibility and usability) in learning design and development
  • Exceptional writing and editorial skills.
  • Experience in drafting and delivering training content.
  • Well-developed capacity to quickly understand and adapt new learning and training requirements in a short amount of time.
  • Ability to work and communicate with a wide range of personnel across the business.
  • Consider end to end process and role-based training rather than systems training
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and completes tasks (a finisher).
  • Self-driven with good time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to successfully collaborate with technical and non-technical staff.
  • A team player that can also ensure individual workload is successfully delivered.
  • Proven problem-solving ability and enjoys learning and applying new skills.
  • Strong autonomous background and ability to self-manage time and tasks.
  • Ability to work under pressure and time constraints.
