Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert guidance on relevant legislation (e.g., Industrial Relations Act 2016, Public Sector Act 2022), awards, agreements, and policies.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with unions, acting as a trusted advisor on employee relations and industrial matters.
- Lead or support negotiations, investigations, and dispute resolution processes, including appearing as an Industrial Advocate before tribunals.
- Prepare high-level advice, briefs, and discussion papers for senior stakeholders, outlining strategy, risks, options, and consequences.
- Coach and educate leaders and HR teams to build capability in employee relations.
- Oversee complex case management activities and ensure timely resolution of grievances and complaints.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation, industrial awards, and agreements in consultation and negotiation processes.
- Proven experience in developing and enhancing industrial and employee relations policies and drafting employee-based policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with capacity to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including unions and skilled in advocating in industrial tribunals.
- Experience in effective case management and resolving workplace issues.
- Government experience and a clear understanding of the Queensland Public Sector Framework is highly desirable.
