OnTalent is delighted to partner with the Department of Energy and Public Works to source suitable candidates for the respected role of Queensland Government Architect. This position is responsible for providing whole-of-government leadership and strategic advice in relation to the built environment, urban design, procurement and heritage issues.  The purpose of this advice is to improve the quality of the built environment in Queensland and ensure that its unique architectural heritage is respected and enhanced. 
  
The role advocates for high quality and innovative design to be given primary consideration for government projects and public buildings and assists Queensland architects in undertaking government work.  In addition, the role promotes community awareness of built environment issues and facilitates linkages between communication expectations and government built environment initiatives.
  
The role is required to develop and maintain high level networks with senior industry stakeholders to facilitate pathways for government to influence industry and for industry to provide feedback and raise concerns and initiatives with government. 
  
The role requires a person who will take personal responsibility for serving the government of the day and meet the needs of the people and communities of Queensland.  As an executive you will work towards a system of world class service delivery and public sector engagement.  Candidates must be currently registered with the Board of Architects.
  
You will possess proven and high-level engagement with professional bodies such as the Royal Australian Institute of Architects and Heritage Council of Queensland and are registered (or eligible for registration) as an architect in Queensland.  You will have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate with influence and to cultivate productive working relationships.  You have a demonstrated capacity to shape strategic thinking in a complex and dynamic building and construction environment and possess a mentoring/coaching leadership style which encourages further development with design responsibilities to build knowledge and capability.
  
The classification of this position is SES3L and the role is located in Brisbane.
