Job Description

As part of the Electrical and Software team and part of the wider engineering division you will be deliver software release engineering and support for the on-board systems/platform.
  
From an operational and delivery perspective, the Embedded Software Support Engineer will:
  • Instrumental in defining and executing an innovative software product release engineering strategy
  • Identifying and implementing leading edge tools and processes to streamline our CI/CD and DevOps process
  • Provide creative solutions when dealing with technology challenges
  • Create, improve, and maintain the build and release environment, tools, and processes necessary to improve the software development process and quality, safety, and security of our products
  • Manage day-to-day tool infrastructure, including tools and systems, troubleshooting issues and identification of resources needed to resolve problems
  • Participate as an active team member in all aspects of the software development life cycle
  • Collaborate with the cross functional team to deliver high quality products
To be successful in this role you will have extensive experience in the software release process. You will will have experience across the following:
  • BSc/BA in Computer Science or a related degree
  • Experience in software engineering, release engineering, and/or configuration management.
  • Strong familiarity with software configuration management systems and/or source code version control systems, Git (Github/BitBucket/etc)
  • Experience with BitBucket Pipelines, Azure DevOps, Jenkins and other CI and CD tools
  • Experience in automating the release and build processe
  • Experience with configuration deployment tools like Ansible and Terraform
  • Familiarity with Agile development processes and DevOps environments
  • Strong scripting or programming knowledges – Shell, Python, Ruby, Perl, Bash etc
  • Experience in an end to end automation environment UAT, PRE PROD etc
  • Experience in the use of Cloud based technologies
  • Working knowledge of Linux
  • Stay current with state-of-the-art technologies, tools and techniques for automation, quality, and security as applied to software development
  • Document designs, processes and procedures
  • Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good communication, negotiation and project management skills
  • Ability to consistently work to a high standard with minimal supervision; self-motivated
