This company seeks a motivated Technical Writer with relevant experience in technical document compilation within a product development or manufacturing industry

The Technical Writer will report to Chief Operating Officer

From an operational and delivery perspective, the Technical Writer will:
  • Design, development, and implementation of documents to support Manufacturing, Engineering, Sales, and Customer functions.
  • Implementation of a documentation standardisation framework – layout, formatting, content as well as a full CMS suite to support all documentation creation.
  • Development of process and delivery of consistent professional documentation.
  • Take the lead in educating/coaching in “best practice” document creation.
  • Create and/or perform editorial reviews of processes, policies, procedures, business and product documentation as required.
  • Take the lead in educating/coaching in “best practice” document creation.
  • Ensure that documentation follows the correct process for review and sign-off based on whether it is a controlled or non-controlled document.
  • Research and assess appropriate Document Management System (DMS) for the business.
  • Compilation and preparation of all relevant technical documents, this may cover (but not be limited to): Installation guides, user guides, maintenance guides, design scopes, templates for sales collateral/tender documents, datasheets, ECN’s, ECO’s NCR’s, etc.
  • Establish key internal relationships with Engineering, R&D, Manufacturing teams, etc interpreting engineering product specifications into customer-facing documents.
  • Creation and development of templates, forms, and documents for QMS.
  • Development of workflow processes and procedures that align with QMS framework/standards.
  • Development and introduction of document control policies.
  • Setup and implementation of version control systems and processes.
To be successful in this role you will have experience as a Technical Writer role within a similar company. You will have experience across the following:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Technical Writing, Engineering, or DTP.
  • Extensive experience technical in document design.
  • Experience of the full MS suite – WORD, EXCEL, VISIO, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Experience of Adobe suite – PageMaker, Frame maker, Illustrator, Acrobat, InDesign (DTP tool), VERSION Cue (revision/version control software).
  • Document/Content Management System DMS/CMS – M-Files, Dropbox, Google, etc – conformance to QMS framework/standards in particular ISO9001.
  • Experience in the development of templates, forms, and documents for companywide QMS/Quality Systems.
  • Have come from a product-based background – B2B – New Product Introduction (NPI), New Product Development (NPD), or R&D-based sector/company.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills driving well-developed writing skills with demonstrated ability to write in a clear and concise manner.
  • Demonstrated record of success at technical/document writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to take written or verbal information and format it according to established company standards and templates.
  • Experience creating a variety of documentation including process flows, procedures, manuals.
