This role will lead and enable a culture of zero harm and is responsible for review and management of the organisation’s Workplace Health and Safety Management System ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
Reporting to the General Manager, Human Resources this position is responsible for the key areas of:
- Workplace Health & Safety Management
This role is responsible for liaising with and supporting management from the Board to frontline leaders in relation to meeting Workplace Health and Safety obligations including providing advice on legislation. It involves conducting assurance audits/inspections and to work with site safety advisors including attending safety and risk management meetings. You will be responsible for preparing board and senior management reporting, provide quarterly reports on overall site safety performance including statistical information and develop and implement systems to facilitate transparency.
You will be required to implement, monitor and refine the WHS system to enable safe work practices including orientation, training, incident and hazard management and supervision to work safely. This role will develop a preventative Mental Health initiative, management of the Employee Assistance Program, follow up on investigations of all work injuries and work related illnesses and review of monthly WHS audits.
To be considered we are seeking candidates with a strong knowledge and understanding of Work Health and Safety including Work Health and Safety Act 2011, the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 and relevant Codes of Practice and Standards. You will also have proven experience and the ability to develop tactical plans and strategies, influence and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes, a strong analytical and critical thinking ability as well as prioritising effectively to ensure deadlines are met. You will require excellent written and oral communication skills and be a professional and enthusiastic role model to internal stakeholders.
Required is a Diploma in Work Health and Safety (minimum) and a formal qualification in management is desirable.
This role involves travel primarily though out South-east Queensland, therefore a company vehicle is provided.
