Head of Claims Management

We are seeking an exceptional leader for the Head of Claims Management leading a portfolio of Government or private sector clients. As Head of Claims Management, you will lead a team of dedicated professionals to deliver effective claims management outcomes across these broad portfolios. 

This pivotal role requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of statutory claims management, rehabilitation strategies, and premium management or significant leadership experience in a related or similar sector involving complex processing and customer service delivery.

Reporting to the Chief of Claims Management this role will drive improvements, provide strategic direction, and ensure the delivery of high-quality customer outcomes through the following key responsibilities:

  • Leadership and management of a team of Claims Management professionals to deliver effective end-to-end claims management, stakeholder engagement, and premium management – leading a team of circa 100 staff through a management team.
  • Driving operational efficiencies and improvements across Claims Management.
  • Development and implementation of effective return-to-work and rehabilitation strategies within a regulatory framework.
  • Provision of strategic direction for retention, and account management strategies.
  • Design and execution of customer-focused outcomes.
  • Leading, coaching, and mentoring through inclusive leadership practices, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Ensuring accurate data management for business operations and actuarial calculations.
  • Engaging with key employer contacts to ensure effective claims management, policy compliance, and premium renewal.
  • Collaboration with external stakeholders including unions, employer associations, and health providers.
  • Leading initiatives and projects that support early return-to-work and injury prevention.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial, records management, and audit controls.

For this rewarding and challenging role, we are seeking experienced leaders with a minimum of 5 years in senior management, preferably in insurance or financial services. To be successful you will have proven success in leading teams, strategic and operational management, and relationship management. Your exceptional people skills will be complemented by strong financial management skills, acumen and commitment to quality.
