We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Advocacy Lead to join our team and lead the advocacy efforts for regionally significant projects that are essential to Ipswich’s continued growth and prosperity.
In this key leadership role, you will spearhead Ipswich City Council’s advocacy program for high-impact, large-scale projects requiring state and federal government support and funding, as well as engagement with private sector partners. Reporting to the Economic Development Manager, you will also collaborate closely with the Mayor and elected members who are leading the charge to attract investment and drive the region’s development.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in advocacy, government relations, media and stakeholder engagement, ideally within local government or the public sector. They will possess strong communication, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to influence and engage high-level decision-makers and have a collaborative, results-oriented approach and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Political acumen and a solid understanding of local government processes, policy, and decision-making will be assessed.
