Chief Executive Officer

The Queensland Alliance for Mental Health (QAMH) is the peak body for the Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Sector in Queensland representing more than 100 organisations and stakeholders.

QAMH reforms, promotes and drives Community Mental Health and Wellbeing service delivery for all Queenslanders, through its influence and collaboration with its membership and strategic partners.

The Chief Executive Officer is primarily accountable to the Board for the provision of leadership to achieve its strategic plan, whilst overseeing all key organisational programs and projects and the necessary organisational supports to achieve objectives, including good governance and compliance.

As the current strategic plan concludes in 2025, uniquely the next Chief Executive Officer will have the opportunity to develop the new strategic plan in partnership with the members and the Board and own it through to execution.

Key areas of focus for the incoming CEO will be:

  • leading members, staff and the Board in the development of the next strategic plan
  • positioning QAMH as a leader and strategic partner to the new government in the development of mental health reforms and policies that impact members and the broader Community Mental Health Sector
  • embedding the Wellbeing First framework within the sector in Queensland, and delivering on the Strategic Workforce program
  • working in partnership nationally to ensure the Community Mental Health Sector is embedded into the introduction of foundational supports and the NDIS reforms
  • improving financial sustainability by securing a diversity of ongoing funding through partnerships with relevant funding bodies.

You will have a deep knowledge and understanding of the contemporary mental health sector and a strong track record of leadership, preferably in the community mental health sector.

With tertiary qualifications in a health-related field such as Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Nursing you will operate from an evidence-led credible position when working with and influencing senior government officers, including at Ministerial level.

Whilst experience working with a membership based organisation would be desirable your track record in developing collaborative partnerships and stakeholder engagement will hold you in good stead.

This is an exciting role, taking the reigns from a CEO who leaves a strong positive legacy in the sector.

Ready to make a lasting impact? Apply today and lead QAMH in building a stronger, more resilient Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Sector.
