Queensland Corrective Services (QCS) is the government agency responsible for the management and oversight of custodial facilities throughout Queensland and supporting the rehabilitation of offenders in custody and in the community. QCS operates eleven (11) high security and six (6) low security correctional centres, as well as 35 Community Corrections district offices and over 140 reporting locations across the State.

QCS contributes to community safety and crime prevention through the humane containment, supervision, and rehabilitation of offenders. Our mission is driven by integrity, accountability, and innovation. The Transformation Office leads QCS’s reform agenda, shaping the agency into a top-tier public safety organisation.

Principal Advisor, Strategic Transformation (Two Positions Available)

About the Role

QCS is seeking two Principal Advisors, Strategic Transformation, to support the development, assessment, and prioritisation of proposed initiatives. Reporting to the Manager, Portfolio Investment & Benefits, these roles sit within the Strategic Transformation Group and will be instrumental in ensuring reform efforts are aligned with organisational priorities, are effectively managed, and deliver measurable benefits.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating across QCS to source and support definition of future portfolio investment priorities.
  • Leading the strategic assessment of proposed initiatives, ensuring alignment with agency objectives.
  • Supporting coordination of benefits realisation activities to track and report on the results of implemented changes and contribution to strategic objectives.
  • Driving continuous improvement across Strategic Transformation team processes and supporting business integration.
  • Supporting business case development, and strategic decision-making.
  • Engaging internal and external stakeholders to drive QCS’s reform agenda.
  • Promoting a high-performance, collaborative, and innovative-focused workplace culture.

 

About You

You will have experience in sourcing and assessing the information required to inform investment priorities, sequencing and operational benefits to support the achievement of organisational strategic objectives, with the ability to engage stakeholders, influence outcomes, and drive evidence-based decision-making.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • High-level interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to assess risks, interpret complex data, and provide well-reasoned advice.
  • A proactive approach to managing competing priorities, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and organisational priorities.
  • Experience in preparing executive documentation, reports, and business case development.
  • Knowledge of public sector governance, investment frameworks, and policy development.
  • A relevant qualification in business or project management (highly regarded but not essential).
