OnTalent is delighted to partner with Toowoomba Regional Council to invite expressions of interest for a Chair and Non-Executive Directors to join the Board of Empire Theatres Pty Ltd.
Empire Theatre is the controlled entity responsible for the operations, stewardship, and commercial performance of the iconic Empire Theatre precinct. As custodian of one of the largest performing arts venues in regional Australia, Empire Theatre plays a pivotal role in enriching cultural life, attracting visitors and supporting the social and economic vibrancy of the Toowoomba Region.
These are paid statutory appointments and represent an opportunity to contribute at Board level to a highly regarded arts institution with strong community impact and commercial ambition.


We are seeking to appoint:
Chair
An experienced and contemporary Board Chair, with a demonstrated track record leading high performing boards. The successful candidate will bring sound judgement, strategic insight, strong governance capability and the ability to foster a constructive and accountable board culture. Experience chairing boards of public sector, controlled entities or community focused organisations will be highly regarded.
Non-Executive Directors
We are seeking Directors with expertise across one or more of the following domains:
- Finance and Audit
- Legal and Risk
- Governance
- Strategy and Leadership


There are multiple appointments available, with 18-month and three-year terms. Collectively, the Board will provide balanced oversight across governance, financial stewardship, compliance, risk management and strategic growth. Directors who understand the interplay between artistic excellence, commercial sustainability and community relevance will be particularly valued.
These are remunerated positions. The expected time commitment is approximately six or seven Board meetings per annum, with additional committee participation as required. Meetings may be held in person or virtually.
