The Domestic Violence Action Centre (DVAC) has a long history in providing high quality services to women, children and young people who have experienced domestic and family violence and sexual violence in the Ipswich, Toowoomba and surrounding regions. Their commitment to their communities is to deliver high quality services that aim for the prevention and elimination of domestic and family violence (D&FV), sexual violence (SV) and gender-based violence. A rare opportunity now exists for a Chief Executive to lead the service in to the future.

With a deeply connected and committed board and 63 passionate staff, DVAC operates services in the regions that include telephone and in-person support and therapy, safety upgrades, family support, men’s behavioural change, education and community development and emergency relief. Importantly, they activate strategies designed to lead to prevention and remove the barriers to women, children and young people seeking support.  DVAC is largely funded through government programs and has a number of partnerships to support the services it provides.

To be successful you will have had significant general management or Chief Executive experience in a service and client centric environment with high volumes of clients/case management. You will have led for sustainability and with a strategic intent to work within a system-wide approach via partnerships – enabling wider reach and impact. You will be able to demonstrate that you have extensive knowledge of the social, political, legal and gendered nature of domestic, family violence and sexual violence.  Your leadership style will be inspirational and connected.  You will have a commitment to and a track record of driving efficiency, effectiveness and business improvement. Your commercial skills will be essential in building sustainability for the organisations and you will be able to demonstrate your creativity and ingenuity in this regard.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience leading strategic, people, finance and operations in an NGO environment as well as tertiary qualifications in human services, management or other relevant qualifications.
