UiLab

Non-Executive Directors (2 Positions)

Applications Close 3 May 2026

OnTalent is proud to partner with UiLab to appoint two Non-Executive Directors at an exciting time in its evolution.

UiLab is a bold and contemporary beneficial enterprise established to position the City of Logan at the forefront of emerging technology. With a clear ambition to become a sustainable, revenue-generating entity, UiLab is building capability, catalysing innovation and creating meaningful employment pathways across its community.

Operating at the intersection of public purpose and commercial agility, UiLab combines the pace and responsiveness of a private enterprise with the mandate to deliver long-term economic and social value. Its focus spans artificial intelligence, industrial automation, computer vision and intelligent sensing, with impact across education, advanced manufacturing, startups and local government.

Through a structured three workstream model, UiLab is simultaneously building community capability, generating revenue through training and consulting, and developing scalable technology ventures that create long-term equity value and solve real city challenges.

The Role

As UiLab enters its next phase of growth, the Board is seeking to appoint two Non-Executive Directors who bring energy, networks and a genuine interest in shaping a high-impact, future-focused organisation. These are remunerated positions.

One appointment is expected to suit a highly experienced Non-Executive Director with a track record of supporting growth, governance and commercial sustainability. The second is intentionally designed to welcome an early career or first-time NED who offers fresh perspective, strong networks and a desire to contribute to an ambitious innovation agenda.

The expected time commitment for board meetings is once every two months totalling six per financial year.

About You

The Board is particularly interested in individuals who bring experience and capability in the following areas:

  • Building strategic partnerships and attracting investment, customers and devising alternative/complimentary revenue streams or funding
  • Business development and growth in emerging or technology-enabled sectors
  • Leveraging networks across industry, government, startups or education
  • Scaling ventures, startups or innovation-led organisations
  • Commercialisation of intellectual property, products or services
  • Navigating the interface between public purpose and commercial outcomes

Appointments will be made with careful consideration to complement existing Board capability, with a focus on diversity of thought, experience and background.

This is an opportunity to contribute to an organisation that is reimagining how cities engage with technology, develop talent and foster innovation ecosystems.
